Palazzo Borromeo hosts conference on Italy’s many catacombs, December 5th, 2024

Palazzo Borromeo, Rome’s Italian Embassy to the Holy See, hosted a conference on Italy’s several catacombs.

Italian Ambassador Francesco Di Nitto hosted the event and gave his opening remarks.  Those were followed by Bishop Daniele Salera and Monsignor Pasquale Iacobone of the Pontifical Commission’s Holy Archeological sites in light of the upcoming 2025 Holy Jubilee in Rome when up to 30 million pilgrims are expected to arrive for the year-long event.

There are up to fifty-four Vatican-run catacombs in Rome and with approximately six that are opened to the public.
