Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s masterpiece “L’Estasi di Santa Teresa” gets a facelift, October 25th, 2021.
One of Rome’s most beautiful churches, Santa Maria della Vittoria, is also home to one of Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s most beautiful sculptures, the “Estasi di Santa Teresa” (St. Theresa’s Ecstasy), also known as the “Transverberation of Saint Teresa”. The work, which dates back to 1646, is located in the church’s magnificent “Cornaro Chapel”. The statue’s lighting system has been improved as well as its colors and intricate stuccoes.
