Rome’s Baths of Diocletian and its massive ancient art exhibit, May 6th, 2023
The Baths are currently hosting a massive ancient art exhibit, “Tra noi e gli antichi” (amongst us and the ancient peoples). Approximately 300 pieces are on display that go from the Etruscan period all the way to the contemporary one. Greece’s Ministry of Culture has lent the exhibit 65 pieces while the archeological site of Pompeii is on display with the original cast of a woman and man who perished during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD as well as a ceremonial cart that was located near that ill-fated city.
The five halls that currently host the exhibit and which are located in the Great Hall of the Baths have been reopened after 40 years (the Baths themselves had been finally revived back in 1911). It runs until July 30th, 2023.
