Italian Cultural Heritage Minister Dario Franceschini at conference on stolen artifacts, June 15th, 2022.

Italy’s Cultural Heritage Minister Dario Franceschini was joined today by the General of the Carabinieri (Italy’s paramilitary police), Teo Luzi, at a conference on stolen artifacts which thanks to the Carabinieri’s highly specialized stolen art unit has been returned to Italy.  The unit itself is considered by many as one of the best in the world.

The venue in central Rome (the old Planetarium) has been now named the “Museum Of Salvaged Art” and will be located in the “Museo Nazionale Romano”.
It will become a permanent showpiece of many recovered artifacts including several hundreds of them from the United States (some pieces date to the 7 century B.C.).
