Ancient Rome continues to reveal its many secrets, May 28th, 2022

Basically in the heart of Rome an ancient Roman cave and its many secrets has  officially opened to the public at the Caffarella Park.

The cave, which is more than 2,000 years old and was once used as a mushroom bed, is 1.5 km long (the part which is opened to the public), or 1 mile long.  The entire length though is 35 km long, or 22 miles, and was entirely dug out by the Romans.

The site is run by Rome’s “Sotterranei di Roma” Association and can be visited on weekends from 10 am – 7 pm.
