Italian Foreign Affairs Minister Antonio Tajani holds G7 press conference, January 17th, 2024

Italy’s Foreign Affairs Minister and Deputy-Prime Minister Antonio Tajani held a press conference at the Farnesina (the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Rome) regarding the upcoming June 13th-15th, 2024 G7 (Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, United States and Great Britain) Summit in the Puglia region of Italy.

As of January 1st Italy has taken over the year-long presidency of the G7.   During the press conference Minister Tajani discussed the current and ongoing dramatic situation in the Middle East as well as the increasing attacks in the Red Sea area by Houthi rebels against international mercantile ships.

As a consequence of their attacks the Houthi have now roiled global shipping forcing many mercantile companies to circumvent the southern tip of Africa as opposed to going through the Suez Canal, and at much higher shipping costs too.
