Palazzo Borromeo, the Italian Embassy to the Holy See in Rome, hosted the “Looking Beyond” satellite imagery exhibit.
In conjunction with the Italian Space Research and Telespazio agencies, Italian Ambassador Francesco Di Nitto hosted a small panel of experts who discussed the importance of the thousands of orbiting satellites in our daily lives, such as weather forecasts, agriculture, biodiversity, the development of large metropolitan areas, military intelligence as well as safeguarding fragile cities/countries such as Venice and the Maldives Islands which quite often are subject to the devastating power of rising ocean levels and flooding (as the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy personally witnessed a few weeks ago with massive rainfall levels and flooding).
