London-born actress Tilda Swinton joined Rome’s mayor Virginia Raggi in presenting the “Embodying Pasolini” performance which will take place on June 25th at Rome’s former “mattatoio” (slaughterhouse).
Swinton’s performance has been inspired by 40 costumes that were used by one of Italy’s most famous and controversial film directors, actors and intellects, Pier Paol Pasolini, on the 100th anniversary of his birth (Pasolini had been murdered in 1975 at Rome’s Ostia seaside resort).
The 60 year-old actress was presented to the local press by Rome’s mayor Virginia Raggi and gave the small audience a taste of her performance which has been created and overseen by French fashion expert Olivier Saillard. Swinton’s performance is a way of not only honoring Rome and Italy’s outstanding fashion tradition but also the way fashion is used in the world of Italian cinema as personified by Pasolini’s movies.
The performance will be through live streaming at www.romaison.it
