The Diego Rivera art exhibit at Rome’s Villa Caffarelli museum, August 26th, 2026

The “Diego Rivera and the creation of modern art in 20^th century Mexico” exhibit is currently on at Rome’s Villa Caffarelli museum.  The museum, the world’s oldest, is located at the Musei Capitolini in central Rome. 

 
Rivera was born in Mexico in 1886 and died in Mexico City in 1957.  He was the most influential figure in the 20^th century Mexican art.  Rivera had inspired a revival of fresco painting in Latin America as well as in the U.S.    Rivera’s largest mural is a history of Mexico for the “National Palace” in Mexico City.  He was also married to a rather famous artist herself, Frida Kahlo.

 
Approximately 150 paintings are on display at the exhibit which runs until December 13th, 2026.
