New Metro C line in Rome.

It took only 12 years to complete but Rome’s Metro C line and its San Giovanni metro stop has finally opened, or will be at least by the end of 2017!

On hand at the press conference on March 30^th, 2017 was Rome’s new mayor, Virginia Raggi, and the director of the Colosseum, Rossella Rea.  Excavation for the new metro line, which will also go past the Colosseum, went down as far as 20 meters.  Archeologists came across a wealth of ancient Roman artefacts which are now finally on display in this new metro stop.

The convent-museum of La Scarzuola, Italy.

The particular convent-museum, “La Scarzuola”, is located near the central Italian town of Fabro, about a two-hour car ride from Rome.   The convent was founded in 1218 by St. Francis of Assisi. 

The tour of the museum area costs 10 euros per person.  The tour guide, a fellow called Marco, appears to be somewhat high on drugs as he’s a rather strange fellow, to say the least (they say some people have asked for a refund as they’ve found him a wee bit offensive in nature).

The entire area was bought up by an architect from Milan, Tomaso Buzzi.  From 1958 to 1978 he built his “Ideal City” beside the convent.  His city contains up to 7 theatres.  There are also replicas of the Colosseum on the grounds of the convent area.
