The “Straordinarie, Protagoniste del presente” (Extraordinary, Protagonists of the Moment) exhibit at Rome’s MAXXI museum.
The exhibit is made up of more than 100 B&W portraits of Italian women by photographer Ilaria Magliocchetti Lombi. Lombi’s work is meant to show how women have asserted themselves and have realised their ambitions and goals despite discrimination and prejudice. And one of the many extraordinary portraits is of Senator Liliana Segre, a Holocaust survivor (she walked out alive from the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp when she was a young girl).
