Rome’s Palazzo Borromeo (the Italian Embassy to the Holy See which also houses the small Borromeo Chapel) hosted the conference “Rome towards Jubilee 2025, the contemporary district”.
Ambassador Umberto Vattani.
Opening remarks were by Ambassador Francesco Di Nitto as next year the Vatican will be hosting for the entire year the Holy Jubilee (the event is held every 25 years). It is estimated that 30 million pilgrims will be arriving in Rome. The conference was also meant to highlight the truly enormous cultural wealth (churches, basilicas, art, etc.) which will be discovered by many pilgrims on perhaps their very first visit to the Eternal City.
Keynote speakers included Monsignor Rino Fisichella, the Vatican’s Prefect for Evangelization, Ambassador Umberto Vattani, the president of Venice’s International University, Rome’s Cultural Assessor Miguel Gotor and the president of Rome’s airports, Vincenzo Nunziata.
