Bansky, the British street artist and probably the world’s most famous too, is on display in a wonderful exhibit at Rome’s Chiostro del Bramante until April 11th, 2021.
Up to 100 images of the genius (or rebel, depending on one’s point of view) are on display for a man who was born in Bristol, England, in the 1970s. As far as Bansky’s anonymity is concerned, the exhibit has the following to say: “His decision to remain anonymous fills a number of needs: the need to escape the police, given the illegal nature of his forays and graffiti; to protect himself, given the satirical undertone of his work; and a desire not to pollute his works through perceptions of his identity. Bansky and his art; revolutionary, ironic, determined and provocative”.
